While copper crafting is a low-risk activity,
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER TO ATTEND THE CLASS
Guests should come prepared for an art studio environment that often involves:
-sharp tools: we give you receiving foam to keep the pointy bits away from you!
-sharp metal: you can get a foil cut just like a paper cut and pointy edges can poke skin and snag clothing. We teach you how to cut in a way that best prevents pointy edges.
-messy inks: I don't recommend wearing your favorite shirt to play with liquid sharpie
-vices: we smash your stem at the end. I do the holding so there's no risk of you being pinched!
-fire: occasionally classes will include optional outdoor flame painting with handheld mini torches. All flame painting is done fully supervised 1-on-1 with the instructor, and we do the flame painting for child participants.
-weight: None of your tools weigh more than a pound (in general they weigh much less!), but we do recommend closed-toe shoes.
Most of my designs are cold-connected by smashing the stem where it meets the base of the flower. If your flower jiggle jiggles, fear not! I'm happy to solder it for you. If you feel less than confident any step of the way, I'm happy to help
MINORS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN AND STILL REQUIRE A WAIVER
Insurance asks that our guests be over the age of 5, but all guests should have fully developed fine motor skills and the ability to sit through a 2 hour class (classes are typically 60-90 minutes). If your child struggles with an activity of this duration, use your judgement and be fair to the other students who paid to take the class. Many child participants- including teenagers- rush to be the fastest and get bored waiting for the ones who take their time.
I am committed to every student leaving with a finished piece, and as long as you are willing to accept help; we'll overcome any aspect of the process that you might find challenging. In 3 years of classes and hundreds of students, I've only ever needed to assist a handful of students in cutting, and I've never met a piece that couldn't be saved. You CAN do this!
As a general rule, i don't refund class tickets, BUT you also don't just lose your money. The onus is on you to let me know *before your class* that you won't be able to make it. From there, you get a few options.
-Reschedule: with notice, I'll generally reschedule any class. I'll even do a private class *just for you* on a date that fits your schedule
-Roll it into credit: I will exchange tickets for shop credit as long as i had notice
Caveat: The above applies to studio classes only. I own the studio, and I sell the studio tickets. Satellite workshops generally go through the hosting venue (not through me), and eventbrite has a no refunds policy. *If I was paid for your ticket* I will still honor my policies, so it doesn't hurt to reach out, but i won't know until the event occurs whether or not *I* was compensated for your ticket.
I don't refund workshops. *HOWEVER*, if you weren't happy with your project, didn't have a good time, or found it simply too challenging, I am willing to make it right by:
-Giving you a "do-over" on me, for the same project or a different one. That do-over can be a public class, a private class just for you, a take home kit, or a simplified version of your workshop with a premade design..
-Giving you my demo piece from your workshop
-Offering you store credit in the amount of your workshop
It doesn't happen often that someone isn't happy with their workshop, but it has happened. Maybe you missed an instruction. Maybe you didn't like your design and weren't comfortable taking the time to change it, maybe your physical limitations were more challenging than expected. It doesn't matter why things didn't go according to plan; i'll do my best to leave you happy.
I've been asked for donations in the past, and I'm generally happy to donate a copper flower or occasionally a free workshop.
HOWEVER, I have found that people aren't great about picking donation items up. If you make the request, please do so with the intention of picking up the item in a timely manner. I will not be available last minute.

The Metal Mixologist online store will be disabled from December 10th until January 1st to enjoy a stress free holiday with our family.
Locals can shop a small selection of our holiday items in the farm stand at our property. Workshop booking will remain enabled
Wishing you all the best magic of the season!
